Pony in Jade
This trophy plate combines so many of the things I adore, like fancy ceramic plates, animals, and pretty plants. Inspired by collectible souvenir plates from the 70s and 80s, both the plates and the animal busts have been slip cast from moulds I’ve been collecting over the years. I find the combination of the lacy plate and the animal details to be an interesting challenge, as particular care needs to be placed on the decoration. The surface has been embellished with 22K gold lustre to enhance the drawing and accentuate the rim.
To preserve the quality of the lustre, hand washing is recommended, and for dusting, a non-abrasive product is key. These plates look great mounted on the wall with a medium size hook or sitting on a shelf in a plate stand.
